Children analysed designs of several different towers and supportive structures looking for clues in their design. They were tasked with making the strongest tower (not the tallest) which could support a small mass (the weight of a reading book) unsupported. Perhaps the best part (for some) was being able to eat some of the structures at the end! Here is the gallery of our work: |

After discussing what makes an effective parachute and the parts we would need to make one, children went off to create designs. They could only use the small supply of materials given. Their challenge was to see if they could design and make a parachute which would safely deliver an egg from a height to the landing zone. Here are the children at work on their designs: |
