We had to use what we knew about sieving to design and make a system of sieves to separate three different sizes of solids at one time. Cailen successfully made a two layer system which let through rice but not paperclips, and both but not marbles. Others had different solutions.

We used our observation skills to compare properties of different materials and decide what made each a solid, liquid or a gas:
We looked at a examples of different styles of purse from Tudor times and the materials Tudors would have used. We then discussed how to make a symmetrical pattern and cut a template out of card, then used it to cut around the felt. Then parents came in to help us sew up the sides and create the holes for the drawstring. MATHS - Play a time game (below) and leave a comment on it. Can you tell the time to a minute? Do you know your 24-hour clock? Can you add on or take off time? Do you know the meaning of 'later', 'before' and when to give an answer as a time or an amount of time (duration)? Science - How would you separate the mess of a mixture which the baby made in the kitchen? Write/draw what you did in your investigation to separate each of the parts of the mixture.
